Uwell, arguably one of the best brands in the game right now have recently added the Uwell Caliburn G2 to their Arsenal. Uwell’s product portfolio has expanded, grown and matured through newer, upgraded and more sleek designs.
Uwell have (in our very humble opinion) executed their game plan perfectly and hats off to them for doing so. Not only do the designs always exceed expectation (apart from the koko – I find this a very strange design, but still a great vaping experience) but Uwell always seem to place the end user at the priority. From taste to practicality, Uwell have you covered.
Whats in the box?

Initial thoughts
Is the G2 just a bit too similar to its predecessor, the caliburn G? The design is similar, but it does have a slightly different, more sleek feel to it. The G2 takes on close attributes to the previous G Pod. It’s weight and size stay true to its ergonomic values (both weighing in around 36grams). The branding, LED light and fire button are all in the same place. But if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it right?
Build Quality
In terms of design, there isn’t a lot to separate it from the previous design. This does mean the ease of use is retained, and its pocket friendly build hasn’t changed. The major difference is the front and rear E-liquid level viewing panel.
I’m a pretty clumsy bloke; so during the time of testing my poor G2 took a couple of falls…. but its still alive to tell the story. As you’d expect, the pod will shoot out from its magnetic pocket, but all round its pretty durable for such a small kit.
Everyday Vaping with the Caliburn G2
What do we think when it comes to all day vaping with the G2?
In short, there isn’t a lot we can fault. A 750mAh battery gives the newest Caliburn enough battery to keep you in power all day. The pod system allows for near hassle-free refills, the silicone stopper prevents leakage. However, you have to be quite precise when refilling, so get your eye in and don’t miss.
Luckily, most E-liquid tips are now small enough fit directly into the the pod, which allows for a quick and easy top up. The G2 comes with a 1.2ohm coil pre installed in the pod, as well as a 0.8ohm in the box. Having both the 1.2ohm and the 0.8ohm allows the user to test which style of vaping is better suited to their preferences; the 1.2ohm coil allows for the Nic Salt vapers amongst us to have a robust, well tasting coil that will perform well with all Nicotine strengths of E-liquid. A 0.8ohm provides an option for the regular, freebase Nicotine vapers to also use this super simple kit.
In terms of functionality, expect a similar output to that of its previous Caliburn G Pod. However, the G2 allows a choice of auto or manual draw when vaping.
What are the Key Features of the Caliburn G2?
Here we can really delve into the difference between the G2 and its predecessor. It features something called vibration interaction, or haptic feedback. These are essentially different patterns which alert for issues such as low voltage, short circuiting or over vaping. (Yes, it is possible to over vape) Opposed to the fixed style of vaping found on the first Caliburn G, the G2 incorporates a spinning wheel which allows us to personalise, and fine tune to our own vaping preferences. The G2 also boasts a slightly wider mouthpiece, which has passed with flying colours from all at vape.co.uk HQ.
Uwell have provided a nifty range of six colour schemes. Carbon Black, Shading Grey, Gradient, Ultramarine Blue, Cobalt Green and Pyrrole Scarlet. All colour ways have a smooth finish, and feel nice in the hand.
As aforementioned, the Caliburn G2 uses vibrations to alert the user of possible battery failures.
Here’s what they mean:
Short circuit – LED will flash red three times and vibrate four times
Low voltage – LED will flash red ten times and vibrate three times
Over time – LED will blink green five times and vibrate twice
Open Circuit – LED will blink blue three times and vibrate twice
Along with the new LED, Uwell have done well to increase safety precautions; and we’re all about a safe vape, so big up to the team at Uwell!
The LED light indicates when the vape is firing, but also tells you what battery percentage is remaining:
This is where Uwell really start to perform, the technology of their coils are easily some of the best in the market at the moment. And we believe, are able to compete with the type of flavour production you’ll get from that of a disposable. This however, is obviously reliant on the fact you’re using good quality E-liquid or Nic Salts. We have tested this on cheaper liquids alike, and it’s still surprisingly good.
Across the board and with other reviewers, this is a pretty common theme. Everyone is singing the praises of the flavour production, and Uwell deserve this praise.
One thing to note, if you’re a vaper who likes a full, big cloud then maybe this isn’t the right vape for you. The adjustable airflow does let you maximise this, but the low voltage won’t give you the power you need to fire up for some big tasty clouds.
In terms of longevity of the coils, again we’re pretty impressed. There wasn’t a lot of loss of flavour from the start of the pods life, to the end. They seemed to last anywhere between 7-20 days (Which again, is pretty bloody impressive).
Some final thoughts:
Positives
Ergonomic design, pocket friendly
Wicked taste
Easy to use
Very fair pricing
Durable
Drawbacks
Sometimes prone to leaking from the pod; this is likely due to the spinning wheel adjustable airflow
Mouthpiece takes some time to get used to when removing
Overall we are extremely impressed with the Uwell Caliburn G2, and are not surprised at its popularity. It’s easy to use nature makes it a perfect choice for smokers wanting to quit smoking, or existing vapers who want an easy, hassle free daily vape kit. And who doesn’t want that?
Well, that about wraps us up for another review with Vape.co.uk. And on that bombshell..
