Finding the best tasting salt nicotine E-liquids can be a challenging task. There is now such a vast choice of nic salts available; it’s sometimes difficult to know where to start. Through extensive market research (albeit tasting freebies) we have compiled a list of our top 10. For those unsure what nic salts actually are, we’ll do a quick summary/FAQ below.
What are Nic Salts?
Nic Salt is a term thats short for Nicotine Salt which is the naturally found nicotine in tobacco leaves. Whilst most people think that nicotine is a seriously harmful chemical, it is actually tobacco and other toxins that are the reason that cigarettes are so harmful to humans.
Whilst nicotine is an addictive substance that we recommend nobody uses unless they already smoke cigarettes and are trying to quit, the nicotine found in nic salts can help to come off of combustible tobacco.
What’s the difference between Nic Salts and regular E-liquid?
A common question then is, what is the difference between these new nic salts and normal e-liquid that I’ve used before? Well…the fundamental difference between nic salts and regular e-liquid is how the body absorbs the nicotine.
Regular e-liquids use free base nicotine, this basically means that nicotine is simply mixed with a flavour concentrate to create the e-liquid. Nic Salts however use a chemical called benzoic acid that neutralises nicotine and creates a new compound of nicotine which is easier to consume. This means that you can consume a higher concentration of nicotine, without it being too harsh as many vapers find.
What are the benefits of Nic-Salts?
Nicotine Consumption – The most obvious benefit to nic salts; is the fact you can consume more nicotine than with regular e-liquid without it being harsh on your throat. Most Nic Salts are found in 10mg or 20mg concentrates which are completely comfortable to vape with, something you couldn’t do with freebase nicotine e-liquid.
Hit Replication – Due to the fact you can consume more nicotine with nic salts, this means that you can replicate a cigarette hit much easier than with a freebase liquid like a 3mg or 6mg liquid. Nic salts are absorbed into the blood stream much quicker, meaning you get an instant hit when using them.
With the danger of waffling on for too long, let’s get into the reason we started this blog. We’ll do a quick list then dive into the flavours in more detail afterwards.
The IVG Beyond Range has only recently been released, and oh boy is this Nic salt brilliant. The only way to describe the depth of flavour in this Nic Salt is to compare it to that of a disposable. It’s perfectly balanced and extremely full in flavour. The passionfruit is sweet but nothing that tastes manufactured or unnatural.
It was difficult to choose my favourite within this range as all flavours are packed with seriously tasty combinations. However, orenji ice took the crown. A bold blend of sweet, ripe orange and mango and muddled together and poured over ice. A full flavoured vape with an icy, refreshing kick to fix finish.
Think back to pick n mix sweet shop days, now think Fruit salads. A sweet concoction of candy flavours. Nothing overbearing or too much, a perfect all day vape.
Aisu are seasoned veterans in the e-liquid game, and their expertise truly do show throughout all of their ranges. The nic salt range is no different, great flavours all round which made for a challenging choice in selecting my favourite. The blue raspberry made the top spot; a sweet Blueberry, mixed with raspberry flavouring finished with a cooling icy finish on the exhale.
Riot Squad Nic salts are a 50/50 hybrid mix of Nicotine. 50% of the nicotine content comes from salt nicotine, and the other 50% comes from freebase nicotine. This allows for a stronger throat hit when vaping, and can be very useful for vapers who look for this as they transition away from smoking. All flavours within this range were very good, but the perfectly balanced Guava passionfruit and pineapple takes the win. A fruity mix that reminds you of sunny days.
IVG have done it again. “2 out of the top 10 spots?” – we know, pretty wild. Look, the simple explanation is that these guys were not messing around when they released the Beyond range. There previous nic salts have been good, but nothing as strong tasting as this. Use these nic salts in a small, low wattage kit and your vaping experience will change. The only e-liquid that comes close to a disposable.
Pacha Mama are probably one of the lesser known e-liquid brands out there today, but i’m a true advocate of their products. The Pacha Mama 20mg Disposable is a fantastic little kit and their E-liquids are no different. The sweet honey mixed with watermelon is a perfect, refreshing combination that is refreshing and an easy all day vape.
Another nic salt range in the top 10, twice! Aisu have a placed in my heart, and has always been one of my “go to” recommendations for newbie vapers. Smooth, strong guava flavour paired with a slightly cooling icy finish. Perfectly balanced, enough said.
Sometimes I find mixed berries a bit of a cop-out flavour when companies are choosing their flavour combinations. However, Chief of Vapes have done really well with this one. A slight tang, mixed with sweet summery berries. Good stuff Chief of Vapes.
Double drip have been in the e-liquid game for as long as I can remember, and the quality of their juice suffers no loss in their nic salt range. With some of the classics like raspberry sherbet and crystal mist. However lemon sherbet just stood out for me. A nostalgic boiled sweet taste, sweet lemon mixed with a tangy, zesty aftertaste.
Will these Nic Salts taste as good as disposables?
In short, if you have the right vape kit and set up you’ll get pretty damn close.
Nic salts perform best on a coil of at-least 0.8ohm and higher, on a low wattage kit. Something like a small pod kit is perfect, and will provide you with fantastic flavour. Disposables are overrated anyway, get a small kit with one of these nic salts and you’ll be laughing. Waaaay cheaper in the long run!
