OXVA are back with another pocket sized rechargeable, refillable pod device – The OXVA Oxbar Bipod. We’re big fans of OXVA kits at Vape.co.uk, with their Xlim SE version being our number one recommendation at the moment for people looking to switch from disposables to a refillable kit. This smaller device has great potential to be a similar success, but is the execution good enough? We took it for a test drive to find out.
OXVA Oxbar Bipod Key Features and Specifications
At 1.8cm wide and 10.5cm tall, the OXVA Bipod is not much bigger than an Elf Bar except for being a little chunkier. Inside the pocket sized device is a 650mAh battery which is small for a refillable kit but large for a kit of this size. As you’d expect, you can recharge the Bipod with a type-c charging cable which allows for a rapid recharge. The Bipod uses a refillable pod that ha s a 0.8Ohm mesh coil pre-installed and can hold up to 2ml of e-liquid. There is no doubt that this kit is designed to offer a refillable disposable style vape. You’ll get a mouth-to-lung (MTL) vaping style from this device, exactly like a disposable.

OXVA Oxbar Bipod Design, Battery Life and Build Quality
Design
The Oxbar Bipod has the same metallic finish as most other OXVA pod devices, a clean and sophisticated look without being too bold and out there. It is a rounded kit with no solid edges and a duck shaped mouthpiece that is like a larger Elf Bar mouthpiece. In fact, the whole design could be described as a slightly chunkier Elf Bar. The kit is cleanly finished with the words “OXBAR bipod” on the front. There is also an LED indicator on the front of the kit that lights up when vaping with three colours depending on battery life (red, white and green). There are two airflow holes on the side of the device but I am confident (or maybe blind) these don’t actually pierce through the casing which would mean they don’t actually do anything for airflow. Sort of like those fake pockets you get in jeans sometimes.
Battery Life
Inside the bipod is a 650mAh built-in battery which is slightly smaller than other OXVA kits but is actually pretty large in a kit of this size. When testing, we found the battery to be pretty consistent in flavour production even as the battery life depreciated, this is staple of OXVA kits. The battery lasts a full day if you’re vaping as if you would smoke a cigarette. If you are constantly vaping, then you can expect at least one full recharge in a days vaping.
Build Quality
Like most OXVA kits, the Bipod has a pretty solid build quality with its metal finish. Due to the bipod being a very small device, it is quite light which can give it a slightly cheaper and almost disposable feel. The pod is absolutely solid, it clicks into place with no room for movement which differs from most similar devices that use magnetic connections instead. I certainly wouldn’t want to drop the bipod and wouldn’t have confidence it would survive, but it’s firm enough.
Flavour Test
As always, the most important thing for a pod vape kit is the flavour it can produce. We tested the OXVA Oxbar Bipod kit with Feast Treats and Bar Juice nic salt e-liquid. We were not disappointed with the results. As usual, OXVA coils produce fantastic flavour, coming very close to that disposable vape kit flavour you’d get in an ELUX Legend or Elf Bar Lost Mary. However, we feel the flavour isn’t quite as good as other OXVA kits like the Xlim range. feel that probably because of the smaller battery and lack of adjustable airflow, the flavour isn’t quite as good as other OXVA kits like the Xlim range. We are not sure if the same coils are used in this device as other OXVA pod kits, although we suspect it is due to the fact it’s a 0.8Ohm mesh coil. In theory it should produce equal flavour but something is just a little off. It would be wise to take this with a pinch of salt though, as the flavour is still relatively full as it should be – just not quite as sweet as a disposable.
How to refill the OXVA Oxbar Xlim
Remove the rubber plug on the side of the pod
Insert liquid tip into the side of the pod
Fill a little bit at a time and keep checking the e-liquid level – avoid overfilling
OXVA have also very kindly put a diagram on the back of the packet with refilling instructions too. This is a great addition as most people don’t read the user manual and realise that you should always prime your coil (leave e-liquid in the pod for 5-15 mins) on a new pod.
Summary…
Overall, the Oxbar Bipod is a great little device as an introduction to vaping or as a kit to switch from disposable vape kits to your first refillable. It has a reasonable battery life, is fairly durable and produces some really great flavour for such a small kit. OXVA are consistent with this type of device although the Bipod is definitely not the best kit in the OXVA range.
