Vaporesso pod kits have always been our go to for pod kit recommendations, specifically the Xros 3 Mini because of how user friendly and reliable it is. They recently released the Xros 4 Mini, so we’re going to put this kit through it’s paces and let you know what we think.
You might automatically think that like an iPhone, the next model up must be better, but this isn’t always the case. Sometimes more features don’t always equal a better experience…
Vaporesso Xros 4 Mini Key Features and Specifications
The kit itself is small and compact, with a weight of 48g, a width of just under 2cm, and a height of 10.5cm. Powered by a 1000mAh battery, the kit offers all day vaping and can deliver up to 16W of power. The Xros 4 Mini also has an adjustable airflow on the side of the device which allows you to swap between mouth-to-lung (MTL) and restricted direct-to-lung (RDTL) vaping. The Xros 3 mini doesn’t have an adjustable airflow so it’s nice to be able to control this with the 4.
The Xros 4 Mini utilises type-c charging which can get the kit up to 100% battery in just 30 minutes, and has an auto draw function so no button pressing is needed to take a drag.
You can also use the new Corex 2.0 pods with this kit; these are advertised as having a better heating distribution, meaning better flavour, and they also have a special kind of cotton in them with increased absorbency. This means when you’re running low on liquid, the cotton stays evenly saturated and it’s less likely to accumulate at the bottom and allow the coil to partially burn. This even heating and higher cotton absorbency means that the coil should last up to 50% longer. I didn’t notice it lasting 50% longer, but it was certainly an improvement on the original Xros pods by at least couple of days.
Inside the box is the Xros 4 mini battery with a pre fitted 0.4Ohm Corex pod. You also get a user manual, type c charging cable, a guide to pod compatibility, and e-liquid filling instructions. A lot of companies are starting to sell kits without a charging cable in there, which is very cheeky, so thank you Vaporesso.
Xros Mini 4 Build Design, Build Quality and Battery Life
Design
The Xros 4 mini has a similar design to the Xros 3 mini, however the battery is slightly more elongated and the pods are taller. It’s still pocket and handbag friendly, lightweight, and easy to carry around with you on the go. The below images of the Xros 3 Mini (yellow, right) and the Xros Mini 4 (Pink, left) can give you a better idea of the size difference.
The charging port is found on the bottom of the kit which isn’t as good as having it on the side like some devices, but this is a minor issue. On the back of the device is the airflow adjuster which is used to switch between mouth-to-lung (MTL) and restricted direct-to-lung (RDTL) vaping styles.
The new Xros pods have been designed in such a way so that you can view the full tank and your e-liquid level without having to remove the pod, like you currently have to with the old Xros pods. You can use the new and old pods in the Xros 4 Mini, but you can only use the old pods in the 3 Mini.
Build Quality
The Xros 4 Mini is made of a sturdy aluminium alloy, which is perfect for me and my fellow clumsy people who can’t seem to be careful with anything. The pod is made of PCTG plastic, which is again sturdy, while also being very temperature resistant. The pod is connected via a strong magnet which feels very secure. I’m not worried that the pod will fall out when I chuck my kit across the room for the 5th time that day. 10/10 from me.
The airflow slider is also really nice, it’s got some resistance to it which means there’s no risk of it being moved when it’s at the bottom of your bag or in your pocket.
Battery Life
The battery is 1000mAh, the same as it’s predecessor. I can get a full day of vaping from the kit and only have to charge it once in the evening. Re charging is easy and quick with the type-c charger, charging to 100% battery in 30 minutes.
The kit has a handy battery life indicator on the silver oval on the front of the kit meaning you’ll never be caught out with a dead battery. If it’s between 70%-100% charge the light will be green, 30%-70% the light will be blue, and between 0%-30% the light will be on red.
Flavour test
The pod that came pre installed in this kit was one with a 0.4Ohm coil, these are the best if you love a really full flavour and don’t mind going through slightly more e-liquid to achieve this. The flavour was absolutely amazing, and i didn’t expect anything less from Vaporesso. I can’t say i noticed much difference between the original Xros pods and the new Corex 2.0’s, except for a slightly fuller, well rounded flavour, but the benefits of this coil are partially in the performance too, and i did notice the coil lasting longer than the original Xros pods.
I chose to pair this pod with the 10mg Bar Juice 5000 in pineapple ice and it surprisingly had a really nice and subtle throat hit too. I wasn’t expecting that from a pod with such a low resistance paired with a 10mg liquid!
With the rise of disposables and the incredible flavour they produce, pod devices need to be able to match this. If you are trying to achieve that disposable flavour, we would recommend a high quality juice like Elfliq (made by Elf Bar) or Bar Juice 5000 which both contain disposable flavours. Pair this with the Xros 4 Mini, or even the Xros 3 Mini, and you won’t find flavour like it elsewhere.
The Xros pods have always been the best for flavour production, I really haven’t ever tasted something as rich and flavoursome as when i’m using an Xros pod. The Xros range remains the undisputed king for me when it comes to flavour.
It does really depend on your personal vaping style, for example if you use high VG liquids, 0.4 or 0.6 ohm coils and take frequent, long drags on your kit, the coil will probably only last you a week. If you’re using a higher resistance coil with 50/50 liquids and take smaller drags, you’re going to get additional days on the life span of your pod.
I managed to get just under 2 weeks of vaping with mine, whereas the original Xros pods would only last me around 8 days (ish). I take small but frequent drags, use 50VG/50PG liquids and keep the airflow slider completely closed for reference, and the coil i used was a 0.4Ohm.
What Type Of Person Is The Xros 4 Mini Kit For?
This really is one of those universal kits that is suitable for a wide range of people. If you’ve been using disposables for years and you’re wanting something more cost effective, well look no further than the 1.0ohm Xros Pod, and the Bar juice or Elfliq liquids. If you’ve just quit smoking and you need something that’s going to replicate that cigarette throat hit, then grab yourself a 1.2ohm coil, a lovely cream tobacco Elfliq, and away you go. If you’ve been using vape kits for years and you just want something easy to use that doesn’t leak constantly, perfect, because the Xros pods, new and old are both anti leak!
The only exception would be if you’re looking for a kit that can make huge clouds and is suitable for very high VG liquids. In this case you’d probably need a more advanced vape kit with adjustable wattage/output.
How To Assemble And Fill The Xros 4 Mini:
When you’ve got the kit out of the box, you’ll have to remove the plastic wrap from around the battery of the kit. I thought this would be one of those satisfying peels like the plastic on a new TV, but it wasn’t, so don’t get too excited.
Once you’ve got that off, take the pod out and remove the small plastic sticky tab covering the magnetic connectors.
Put the pod back in the kit, and push the black mouthpiece on the pod away from you. This will reveal the red refill hole. Just fill the kit up with liquid through this hole making sure not to overfill it (leave a small gap at the top) and you’re done!
The kit is already pre charged so just leave the coil to soak for 15-20 minutes, and away you go!
What’s The Difference Between The Xros 4 Mini And The Xros 3 Mini?
One of the main differences is the airflow. The Xros 3 Mini has a fixed airflow so you aren’t in control of how tight you’d like the draw (unless you go up or down in coil resistances). I don’t see this as being a huge improvement though, as the Xros 3 Mini airflow seemed to work perfectly with any coil and i never felt the urge to alter this. I did enjoy being able to change the airflow on the Mini 4, but i always keep it closed anyway because i prefer a tighter draw. If you do like increased airflow then this would be perfect for you.
The new pods are the biggest improvement. Not only do they last longer, but now that you can see all of the liquid in the pod, it removes the ‘admin’ of taking out the pod to check to see how much liquid you’ve got left. This will avoid the issue of running out of liquid without realising and burning the coil, and there’s even less chance of that happening with the new extra absorbent cotton used in the Corex 2.0 pods.
Pro’s
Undisputed King Of Flavour
All Day Battery Life
Full Visibility On E-liquid Levels
Adjustable Airflow

Con’s
I can’t think of a single con for this kit. This has never been seen before in Vape.co.uk history.
In Summary:
At first i was slightly sceptical of this kit because i’ve used the Xros 3 Mini for so long; when this first came out i was in the ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’ mindset. Having tested the kit out thoroughly i’m happy to say that i would use this kit once my Xros 3 Mini pops it’s clogs. It is a brilliant kit, the flavour is amazing, the battery life is ideal, it charges quickly, and the list goes on.
If you’re going to still be using the old Xros pods because you prefer a higher resistance (the new pods only come in 0.4, 0.6 and 0.8ohms) then there’s no major reason to choose either kit over the other. The colours in the Mini 4 range are lovely though, the pink one i’ve reviewed has a lovely reflective sheen/pattern, and it’s the same with all of the non camo colours.
