What are Nic Salts? Now unless you’ve been living under a vaping rock for the last couple of years, or of course you’re completely new to vaping, you would have heard of Nic Salts. They seem to be a craze that have really taken off in the vaping world, especially in the last couple of years.
When we speak to different vapers that we have helped to quit smoking, a lot of them credit nic salts as the main source to help them actually quit. A lot of people might have tried vaping a few years back, before nic salts were a big thing and then gone back to smoking because they just couldn’t replicate that nicotine hit that they got from cigarettes. But then of course, along came these wonderful new e-liquid ranges called nic salts and they saved the day, quite literally. But what are Nic salts exactly?
What are Nic Salts?
Nic Salt is a term thats short for Nicotine Salt which is the naturally found nicotine in tobacco leaves. Whilst most people think that nicotine is a seriously harmful chemical, it is actually tobacco that is the reason that cigarettes are so harmful to humans.
Whilst nicotine is an addictive substance that we recommend nobody uses unless they already smoke cigarettes and are trying to quit, the nicotine found in nic salts can help to come off of combustible tobacco.
What’s the difference between Nic Salts and regular E-liquid?
A common question then is, what is the difference between these new nic salts and normal e-liquid that I’ve used before? Well…the fundamental difference between nic salts and regular e-liquid is how the body absorbs the nicotine.
Regular e-liquids use free base nicotine, this basically means that nicotine is simply mixed with a flavour concentrate to create the e-liquid. Nic Salts however use a chemical called benzoic acid that neutralises nicotine and creates a new compound of nicotine which is easier to consume. This means that you can consume a higher concentration of nicotine, without it being too harsh as many vapers find.
What are the benefits of Nic-Salts?
Nicotine Consumption – The most obvious benefit to nic salts then, is the fact you can consume more nicotine than with regular e-liquid without it being harsh on your throat. Most Nic Salts are found in 10mg or 20mg concentrates which are completely comfortable to vape with, something you couldn’t do with freebase nicotine e-liquid.
Hit Replication – Due to the fact you can consume more nicotine with nic salts, this means that you can replicate a cigarette hit much easier than with a freebase liquid like a 3mg or 6mg liquid. Nic salts are absorbed into the blood stream much quicker, meaning you get an instant hit when using them.
Cheaper – In the long run, nic salts are cheaper because you will have to consume them less often than regular e-liquids due to the increased level of nicotine.
Who should use Nic Salts?
First Time Vapers – Nic salts have been so effective in helping people quit smoking, that it is recommended that first time vapers should use them. If you’re just making the switch, nic salts are perfect for you because they will best replicate a cigarette and keep you away from combustible tobacco.
All Vapers – We would recommend that actually all vapers should at least try nic-salts. They’re very different to free base and of course only come in 10ml capacity, but you really can’t knock it until you’ve tried it.
Where do I get my hands on these amazing new E-liquids?
Any reputable vape shop should be stocking nic salts, and plenty of them too. All of the major e-liquid brands have started manufacturing nic-salts as the new most popular thing in vaping, from Moreish Puff, to Dinner lady.
In the UK and Europe, you should only be able to get Nic Salts in 10ml in size. This is due to the Tobacco Products Directive (TPD) which is the EU law that regulates the sales of e-cigarettes. If you live in the UK or Europe, and see Nic Salts in bottles larger than 10ml, please steer clear as these are not licensed or regulated e-liquids.
If you’d like to try nic-salts, we have an entire range from some of the best e-liquid manufacturers in the world.
