You may or may not have heard of this new disposable vape, the Aquios Bar. It claims to be eco-friendly, sustainable, recyclable and use 30% water to combat the dehydration associated with vaping. This is an exciting proposition for a disposable vape kit, which we all know are terrible for the environment – but what is the Aquios bar actually like to vape? We put it through its paces in this review and gave our thoughts and feelings on the new kit by world famous Innokin.
Key Features of the Aquios Bar
The Aquios bar is the worlds first water based disposable vape kit. Aquios uses 30% water as well as your usual ingredient suspects, Vegetable Glycerin, Propylene Glycol and flavourings. The aim of this is to target the dehydration that comes with vaping. Along this, the Aquios is made from recyclable materials and is 95% consumer recyclable which is impressive from a disposable vape kit.
The Aquios is powered by a 450mAh battery which offers up to 600 puffs (approx), this is a pretty small battery for a disposable kit. Each device is pre-filled with 2ml of e-liquid in a 2%/20mg nicotine strength and there are (at the time of writing) 10 flavours to choose from. As a disposable device, the Aquios is draw activated with no buttons and there is of course no need to recharge or refill it.

Aquios Bar Flavours
At the time of writing, there are 10 flavours in the Aquios bar range. All flavours are ice based, giving a cooling finish so if you don’t like icey flavours, avoid the Aquios bar! We’ve condensed a flavour list below, with a description from Aquios themselves on the flavour profiles.
Blueberry Ice Sweet candy style blueberry with a mellow icy finish.
Sunrise Ice Authentic mango paired with ripe banana and a moderate icy finish.
Mango Passion Ice Authentic mango paired with sweet passionfruit and a moderate icy finish.
Tropical Fruit Ice A blend of light tropical fruits with hints of citrus and a mellow icy finish.
Iced Cosmic A mystery blend of sweet and sour fruits with a mellow icy finish.
Sour Apple Sour green candy apple with a subtle icy finish.
Peach Ice Super realistic peach, with a juicy mouthfeel and light icy finish.
Watermelon Ice Sweet candy style watermelon with a moderate icy finish.
Blueberry Bubblegum Ice Sweet bubblegum with hints of blueberry and mixed berries, with a moderate icy finish.

Flavour Test
By this point, we should all know that the most important thing for a disposable vape kit is flavour. Whilst I’m not convinced that flavour is the only thing that Aquios are going for here with the sustainability angle, it is still crucial. So, how does the Aquios bar taste? Well, it’s average – at best.
Aquios claim that because water exists in the air we breathe, it generates a smoother vape by including it in the liquid. A nice theory perhaps, but in reality this just isn’t true. On inhale, despite claiming the opposite, it is actually quite an irritable draw. It produces an almost scratching in the throat which is uncomfortable and puts you on the edge of coughing. On top of this, you don’t get a full vape feeling in the throat, it almost feels like the device isn’t working properly.
Another claim is that by adding water and reducing PG/VG, you get a purer taste, this might be a little more accurate. What is important to note here though, is that purer doesn’t mean nicer and two should not be confused. With the Aquios Bar, you do get a feeling that you are vaping something clean and pure, but how much of this is placebo I can’t be sure.
Reduced Dehydration
It’s not all bad news for the Aquios bar though. The reduced dehydration by including water in the liquid is very accurate. Normally when you use any type of vape kit, you are noticeable thirstier. With the Aquios bar, this really is reduced to a minimum and you do feel less of a need to clutch at your water bottle.
Build Quality, Design and Battery Life
You can sum up both the design and build quality of the Aquios bar just by knowing that it is a recyclable disposable vape kit. It looks and feels like a recyclable vape kit. It has a cardboard feeling to the outer wrap and a silicone mouthpiece. You can’t describe the Aquios design as anything but unique and original, which is great to see. Personally, I’m not sure how I feel about the silicone mouthpiece, although it is extremely comfortable in the mouth.
There is an LED light on the bottom of the device, which lights up as you inhale much like many other disposable kits and the airflow holes sit nicely on the bottom. The device itself feels solid enough and I think the silicone mouthpiece will protect it if you drop the device.
Battery Life
With a 450mAh battery, the Aquios is advertised as an up to 600 puff kit. This is always an estimate with disposable vaping and never guaranteed because we all take slightly different draws when we inhale. However, a 450mAh battery is always going to struggle to achieve the full 600 puffs and when we tested it, it did fall short. It might be more accurate to say that this is a 500 puff kit and I think most vapers will struggle to get 600 puffs out of it before the battery dies.
Where can I buy an Aquios Bar?
Well of course, you can find it right here at Vape.co.uk. The Aquios Bar is still a fairly new device, which means it isn’t widely available and you may struggle to find it in convenience stores. However, most vape shops will probably be stocking a small amount of these devices and you can find them online too from a whole host of retailers.
How to dispose/recycle my Aquios bar?
For all of it’s flaws, one thing that is great about the Aquios is the recyclable element, clearly they really do care and have done everything they can here to improve sustainability in an industry that is frankly terrible for the environment. Something Aquios include in the kit is clear instructions to dispose of the kit. This is the first we have ever seen in a disposable vape and it’s seriously impressive.
Pro’s and Con’s of the Aquios Bar
Pro’s
Recyclable
Less dehydration when vaping
Con’s
Bad Flavour
Poor battery life
Harsh hit
Summary…
What Aquios have tried to do here is remarkable and was always going to be a big ask. From a sustainability point of view and if the environment is a concern for you as a vaper, this is definitely the way forward. The problem however, is in the execution of what a disposable should be. It should taste fantastic and it should feel smooth to vape, particularly when that is the claim from the manufacturer. The Aquios is not a smooth vape and it does not produce anywhere near good enough flavour. It feels more like free base nicotine rather than nic salt e-liquid and you really don’t get a full vape with it.
A great attempt, but once again eco conscious vapers have been let down with a product with so much potential. It seems that the Aquios probably started as a great idea in a marketing boardroom, but whoever was testing it clearly didn’t understand what disposable vapers wanted.
