As more and more new vapers transition from disposables to refillable kits, the search for the kit with the best flavour production and the race for vaping manufacturers to build it is on. One contender is the Smok Solus 2 by world famous SMOK Tech, an inexpensive kit with one clear focus, flavour. We decided to give it a test and see what all the fuss is about.
Key Features and Specifications
The SMOK Solus 2 really is as simple as refillable vape kits get. Powered by a 700mAh battery and a 15W max output, you’ll comfortably get all day vaping with the SMOK Solus 2. Recharging is rapid and simple with a type-C USB charging cable that comes with the kit. There are no buttons on the Solus 2, you just inhale and go much like a disposable kit. Each pod has a 2ml capacity and is completely refillable. Tying in with the theme of simplicity, this pod device is simple swap in swap out so there is no need to mess around with coils.
An extremely portable device, the Solus 2 is just 10.7cm tall, 2cm wide and weighs only 30 grams with the pod installed. Pre-installed in the pod is a 0.9Ohm Solus meshed coil which is perfect for nic salts with a 50VG/50PG ratio. For a full list of specifications see below.

How to refill the SMOK Solus 2 Kit
Refilling is simple and easy with the SMOK Solus 2 kit. To refill the device, simply open the silicone cap on the side of the pod, insert the tip of the liquid and squeeze into the kit. Only squeeze small amounts at a time and keep checking how much liquid is in the pod to avoid overfilling.
SMOK Solus 2 Battery Life, Build Quality and Design
Design
The Smok Solus 2 is a slick looking kit available is 6 different colours. It has a metal finish and a thin design. You;ll find a duck shaped mouth piece on the pod which is relatively comfortable. The SMOK branding is on both sides of the kit, with one side saying “SMOK” and the other “Solus 2”. It has a flat bottom which allows it to stand very nicely on a desk or surface and a charge port at the bottom of the kit too. The only thing the Smok Solus 2 is really missing is an adjustable airflow controller. Although you can switch between a mouth-to-lung (MTL) and restricted direct-to-lung (RDTL) by turning the pod around, this isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. It’s more of an MTL kit through and through.
Build Quality
A very lightweight kit at just 30 grams, the Solus 2 isn’t build to be a super solid durable kit but it is still built fairly well. The metal casing keeps it fairly cool even when vaping and certainly doesn’t feel cheap. The pod is semi-magnetic but still requires pushing in until you hear it click. Overall it’s a fairly solid device for something so small, portable and inexpensive. It’s very similar to a Vype, Juul or Elf Bar Mate device in terms of build quality.
Battery Life
The Solus has a built-in 700mAh battery, which is fairly large for such a small device. The battery life on the Solus 2 is good, it will never compete with a huge battery or external batteries but that’s not what it’s designed to do. If you are vaping similarly to how you’d smoke, you will comfortably get all day vaping and some. We tested this out and managed to get a full day, an evening and then a second morning use before the Solus 2 died. We’d say that’s pretty good going!
Flavour Test
It’s crucially important that any vape kit produces good flavour, but for one that is designed to replicate a disposable (as the Solus 2 clearly is), this is even more important. So how does the Smok Solus 2 fair for flavour?
Well, the Solus 2 produces some of the best flavour I haver ever experienced from a refillable vape kit. Evidently SMOK have focused hard on the Solus coils and the power output to ensure excellent flavour production. We paired the Solus 2 with the popular Bar Salts by Feast Treats and wow. The flavour is quite literally mouth-watering, I would go as far as to say even more rich than a disposable Elf Bar.
Pro’s and Con’s of the SMOK Solus 2
Pro’s
Excellent flavour production
Good battery life
Cons
No airflow adjustment switch
Summary…
Overall, the Smok Solus 2 is a great vape kit. It is the perfect device for the transition between disposables and refillable kits. Offering simplicity and unrivalled flavour, you really can’t complain too much with the new Solus. My only concern is how long it will last, it is a relatively inexpensive kit for it’s category, does this mean you’ll only get a couple of months out of it? For the purpose of this review we can’t know for sure. If SMOK had have put an adjustable airflow on it, I’d be tempted to say it’s the best refillable pod device in it’s category right now for value. They didn’t though, so it will remain a top competitor.
