Out with the old, in the with new. Long gone are the days of freebase nicotine, 50ml bottles and DIY e-liquids juices (for most people anyway). Disposable vape kits have changed the way the vaping industry for good, and because of this Nicotine Salts (or nic salts for short) have seen a huge rise in popularity. Because of their nicotine strength, nic salts require a more specific type of kit and coil to provide the best flavour, but we’ll go into that shortly.
Buying a vape kit that delivers good flavour, a smooth throat hit and is easy to use doesn’t have to be ridiculously expensive. I’m going to take a wild guess and say some of you may have used a disposable vape kit before. If your looking for a kit which can deliver similar flavour to your throw away favourites, then you’re in the right place.
Annoyingly within the vaping industry, many companies will be quick to recommend you a kit which you have to spend £45 on, then buying coils that will only last 3 days. Gone are these days, luckily we’re not greedy pigs have recommended 5 kits which are all under £25.
What is a Nic salt?
Nic salts are the purest form of nicotine that can be found in any vape e-liquid. Compared to freebase nicotine, nic salts can be found at much higher nicotine strengths – most commonly in 20mg and 10mg nicotine strengths. Nic salts allow for a much smoother vape, which therefore helps provide a much stronger flavour.
Can I use nic salts in all vape kits?
Unfortunately the short answer is no. Nic salts need to be used with a specific type of coil and vape kit, so that the coils don’t burn out prematurely. The ideal vape kit for nic salts is a small, low powered kit with mesh coils. When we say low powered, we mean anything that fires under 30W. If a vape kit is too powerful, it will likely heat the nic salt up to a temperature which is too high for the coil – therefore tasting burnt.
When it comes to vape kits, more expensive does not unfortunately mean better. Although it may have been good idea, we haven’t based these on more expensive first so we make the most money (evil laugh…). Nope, we’ve based these purely on how we rank these as best vape kits for nic salts. We
The Vaporesso is at the top of this list for a reason. A top Fill pod allows for a no faff approach to refilling your kit. The coils are fixed within the pods so there is no messing around when it comes to changing your coils/pod. To top it all off, the pods last around 2 weeks each (bloody bargain if you ask me). This is the best disposable vape alternative available on the market right now.
OXVA Xlim Pro Kit
For reference this has been updated as of September 2023 and the OXVA Xlim Pro is an upgraded version of the Xlim SE you will find in the number 2 spot. The Xlim pro boasts an easy side fill pod, upgraded mesh coils and adjustable wattage whilst being extremely easy to use. The OXVA Xlim Pro Vape Kit will provide you with as good flavour as you find in disposables. Big claims, we know.
OXVA Xlim SE 25W Bonus Kit
There’s no surprise the OXVA xlim SE 25W kit has made it to the top spot of this list once again. The OXVA Xlim SE has a choice of pods; a 0.6 ohm for a looser, more full vape which can also double up for DTL vaping. A 0.8ohm pod for a ‘happy medium’ which we believe is the best pod for nic salts and longevity, and then the 1.2ohm pod which has a more restricted draw but will mimic the pull of a disposable vape kit. The OXVA boasts a strong 900mAh battery which unless you are puffing more than a steam train, will last you a full days vaping. A type C USB charging port allows for rapid charging and a happy me, no more waiting 3 hours for full charge.
Aspire Flexus Q Pod Kit
The Aspire Flexus Q pod kit is one of the best kits on the market now in terms of flavour, so it’s no shock that it made it to our top 5. A built in 700mAh battery provides the flexus with enough juice to last a whole day of vaping. It comes with two coils in the box; the 0.6ohm and 1.0ohm. I like the fact they provide both so you can give both a try and see which one suits you best. As a general rule of thumb; the 1.0ohm is best for nic salts and the 0.6ohm is best for shortfill e-liquids. The Flexus is super easy to use, very aesthetically pleasing and a great choice for a daily vape kit to use with nic salts.
Aspire R1 Refillable Disposable
As much as this is a bit of a cheat entry; I am becoming more and more fond of this little kit. Provides a super easy solution to switching from disposable vapes to a refillable one. Cheap, cheerful and does the job. The R1 allows for up to 3500 puffs and will most of the time outlast this.
Uwell Caliburn A3 Pod Kit
The Uwell Caliburn A3 is Uwells latest edition to their pod kit family. A small but mighty 520mAh battery provides this little kit to fire up to 13W which for vaping nic salts, it’s absolutely bloody perfect. At a similar weight to a disposable elf bar, this is a great little kit for those wanting something discreet, full of flavour and super easy to use. Like the OXVA, the coils come fixed within the pods. This means that there is no unnecessary faffing around when it comes to changing the coils within the pod, you simply just swap to the next one.
Summary
Nic salts have changed the game for good, and with most people taking their fancy to disposable vapes a good vape kit designed specifically for nic salts will be at the top of most peoples minds. Buying a good, reliable vape kit doesn’t have to be expensive – you just need to know what you’re looking for. Luckily, we’ve done the leg work on this one for you (yes, you’re welcome).
