We are back again with another small pod kit which is ready to give disposables a run for their money, and i’m here for it. The OXVA Xlim SE Pod kit is one of OXVA’s latest editions to their already extensive product portfolio. The OXVA Xlim SE is an upgrade to the XLIM V1/V2 and they haven’t been messing around with their development. As a brand, OXVA is a relatively new company to enter the vaping market. However, they have already released a wide range of products and have made a name for themselves within the vaping market.
The OXVA Xlim comes in at just under 15cm which fits perfectly in your pocket which makes it a perfect ‘on the go vape’ solution. Inside the device there is a comfortable 900mAh battery which is charged via a fast charging USB-C it hits full charge in just over 30 minutes.
A LED ‘X’ in the middle of the face of the kit is a remaining battery life indicator which allows you easily to see how much power you’ve got left in your kit. The Xlim is autodraw activation, and they didn’t even bother putting a button operated fire on the kit. Which proves a massive benefit if you’re someone who always chucks your vape kit in your pocket without thinking about it.
The Xlim also boasts a nifty airflow adjuster slider on the side of the kit (as seen in the picture to the right) which allows you to find the perfect vapour amount for you. Unlike game consoles, all existing xlim pods will fit this device. So if you have some left over, no need to through them away. This is a really cool feature and we’re hopeful that other brands take note of this.
OXVA Slim V2 pods are filled through a silicone stopper on the side. Although slightly fiddly to open, the silicone stopper does its job. Other kits in the same category such as the Caliburn A2 are notorious for leaking (although don’t let this put you off the A2 – another fantastic kit). OXVA have nailed the design of these pods, fantastic taste, life span; all with pretty much zero leaking.
Build Quality
The coils come in both 0.6ohm and 0.8ohm. They are fixed within the pods and are of extremely high quality. I used the preinstalled 0.6ohm coil that came with OXVA for 4 weeks and there was no change in flavour output, which is pretty crazy. I used both 20mg nic salts all the way to 70VG/30PG 3mg freebase nic e-liquids – it was good on both. However if its longevity and flavour you’re looking for, go for a good quality nic salt. This will provide you with a depth of flavour similar to that of a disposable, but will be a fraction of the cost.
The oxva comes in 8 different colours, each as sleek as the last. I went for the space grey as i’m a boring old man who likes to keep things simple, but you can see just how good the build quality is in the picture below. The style, feel and overall performance of the OXVA lives up to its smart appearance.
The OXVA Xlim SE has a start airflow control slider on the right hand side of the vape kit, which allows for a customised vaping experience.
The OXVA has a smart LED doubles as a battery indicator;
Green light = 60 – 100% battery
Blue light – 30 – 60% battery
Red light – Less than 30% battery remaining
The durability of the OXVA is surprisingly good. Normally, small pod kits are pretty delicate and can’t take even the slightest knocks. Sure, if you drop it the pod will pop out of its magnetic hold but both the kit itself will still be in good nick.
Flavour Production
The OXVA comes with a 0.6ohm mesh coil which fires at around 20-25W preinstalled in the pod (A feature that I really like. The plastic pod is the cheap bit in the pod, so not having to change that avoids a lot of faffing around at swap over time. The Xlim provides some of the best flavour from a pod kit I am yet to test/see on the vaping market. It has made its way comfortably to my “daily vape”. If you’re looking for the same flavour as you would find in disposables, give this a try.
Battery Life
It can be difficult to give an exact amount of time on battery life. I found from full charge to completely empty it would last me 2 days of pretty heavy use. The device can be fully charged within an hour, using a type-C usb to charge.
Pro’s
Some of the best flavour production we’ve seen from a pod kit
Smart, professional design
Coil lifespan is extremely good. If you use a good quality nic salt you can easily get 4 weeks to each pod with no difference in flavour.
No leaking from pod
Con’s
Only comes with 1 pod in the box, would like to see another 0.8ohm pod in there too
Side fill is slightly fiddly
No charging cable included
Overall thoughts
I think I can quite comfortably say that this is my favourite pod kit on the market right now. I think it’s perfect for anyone looking to quit smoking. I also think its perfect for those who vape disposables, and are looking for a great tastings, slightly easier on the pocket alternative. The only suggestion i’d have is the inclusion of a charging cable and an additional pod. But hey, for only £16.99 can you really complain?
